DuPont Circle is a place that is bustling with activity. Birds chirping, kids screaming, bikes whizzing by, anything and everything you could imagine is happening in DuPont. The one thing that isn't constantly moving is the trees. Here, an eclectic collection of trees is contained. Ranging from Pine Trees to Birch Trees. However, one tree in particular caught my eye. With its gnarled roots and its ancient bark, it seems to be something out of a fairy tale. Possibly Alice in Wonderland. Possibly even the tree that Alice fell under. I can imagine the white rabbit leading Alice into a hole right under this trees cartoon-like roots. Leading her into a world of magic and wonder that I can see through this tree.
With its rich light brown color, this tree's bark stands out among the rest of the normal trees. Grasping my attention and stealing my gaze. After looking at this interesting tree for a few minutes, I realize that there are none others like it near me. How could there be only one of these unique, interesting trees? I decide that it must be some sort of portal to the magical world. For what other explanation is there?
I love how you found nature in the hustle and bustle of busy Dupont Circle! My fav part was when you wrote of the tree "grasping my attention and stealing my gaze." I bet a certain AP teacher would have loved it too :)
